It seems like just yesterday that I was posting to inform you that Jordan Burroughs had won the 2011 World Championships, but now he is an Olympic Champion and has continued to live up to his Twitter handle of @alliseeisgold! Burroughs is now an unbelievable 38-0 in international competition. He became only the tenth wrestler to win NCAA, World, and Olympic titles, and is the first US wrestler to win consecutive World or Olympic titles since Rulon Gardner did it in 2000 and 2001. Burroughs now plans on chasing John Smith's feat of six straight World and Olympic titles, a streak many have believed that no American will ever top.
I'm soooo mad that I missed his gold medal match on TV, but you can view the matches online if you have cable: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/wrestling/repechage-finals-m-freestyle-55kg-74kg-mds-aug-10.html
I wanted to write more about this, but it's getting late so I'm signing off. Check back for more about this golden boy, his training habits, and his undeniable swagger!
See Gold,
Jeff
